Life Sucks So Why Keep Trying – Or – Take A Breath And Get Back Up

Bare with me here because it’s going to get a little deep. Get your shovel out before you read the next paragraph. Life sucks and it’s only going to keep sucking! Every time I think things are going good, something bad happens and it all gets ruined. The harder I try the harder it gets. The more money I make the more money other people want from me. Why should I keep trying. I give up! The list of things people say to themselves and their friends and family goes on and on. The more people I meet the more I see it. Unhappy people all over the world, right next to you in the store and even living in the house right next to yours. What all of these people don’t get, is that things in life WILL suck as long as they keep thinking that way. It’s a fact and things will never get better for these people until they change the way the think and see things in life. When we let our guard down our judgment, thought process and our care for ourselves and even others all goes out the window. We start to see things as way more than they really are. Here’s an example… A guy gets up for work one morning and on the way to the bathroom he stubs his toe. No big deal right. Yeah it hurts like hell for a minute or two, but it goes away and he goes about his business. Then as he’s walking out of his apartment on to the sidewalk someone bumps into him and spills his coffee all down the front of him. Well, not a good start to a day right. As the day goes on he starts thinking about all of these things and a few other little accidents happen here and there. Just one thing after another right. Half way through the day he starts getting a little snappy with people around him, even they are just trying to help him in some way. By the end of the night he’s ready to explode and wants to throw his TV dinner across the room, and when he does, it slams against the wall and now there’s mashed potatoes and Salisbury steak and green beans and a little brownie all over the wall. And it looks like it’s going to stain. Great, how’s he going to explain that people when they come over for poker on Friday night. Go figure! All of these things that happened are things that happen to thousands of other people everyday. His day got worse because he started to dwell on things and tell himself that his day was bad, and only going to get worse. WHY think about things that happen in life as bad things and WHY let your guard down so you keep pilling on your own pity. Everything that happens in your day after that will always looks, feels and sounds 100 times worse than it really is. And you’ll end up making bad decisions – like throwing your TV dinner against the wall. When things during your day start to go “Bad”, STOP! STOP and relax for just 1 minute. 60 Seconds out of your day a few times will not hurt you. It’ll actually help you. STOP, take a breath and tell yourself that everything is okay and that you know things will get better that day. Think about something that makes you feel good for just 60 seconds. If you do this every time something goes wrong in your day, your life or whatever, you’ll see that things are where near as bad as you normally think they are. You’ll be able to make better decisions and you’ll be a happier person. Life will always try and peg you in the ass like a bully forcing you to play wall ball and always making you stand against the wall for an “Ass Shot” or two. What you have to do is STOP, BREATH, THINK OF SOMETHING GOOD – then do what you can to make that bad thing go away. Deal with each situation in your day one by one and don’t let your guard down while you’re dealing with life’s little “Ass Shots”. David Porter
See, when things in life start to go bad for us, most of us for some reason let down our guard and welcome in the nasty thoughts like you read above. The same thoughts that are actually causing some of the things in life to go wrong for these people.
